Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Hadou Kasbah – Ouarzazate – Agdez – Zagora

Commencing our 2 days Zagora desert tour from Marrakech from either your accommodation or the airport in Marrakech, we set out early in the morning. Our journey takes us through the breathtaking Tizi N-tichka pass, towering at an altitude of 2260 meters, and meanders through picturesque Berber villages. Along the route, we pause at various vantage points to soak in the panoramic vistas.

Our first significant stop is the iconic Ait Ben Hadou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of remarkable beauty. This historical fortress has served as the backdrop for numerous Hollywood blockbusters, including Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia, as well as acclaimed TV series like Game of Thrones.

Following a delightful lunch either within the confines of the Kasbah or farther afield in Ouarrzazate, we journey onwards, traversing the Anti Atlas Mountains and traversing through quaint Berber settlements. Our route then leads us alongside the Draa Valley, famed for its distinction as Morocco’s largest palm plantation and the country’s longest river.

Upon reaching Zagora in the afternoon, an enchanting camel trek awaits you through the Zagora desert. As the sun begins its descent, casting a golden glow over the landscape, you’ll have the opportunity to witness a spectacular sunset. Later, our journey continues to a Sahara desert camp, where a traditional Moroccan dinner awaits, accompanied by rhythmic drum performances beneath the vast expanse of twinkling stars.

Day 2: Zagora to Marrakech

Rise and shine to the gentle call of the desert as we embark on an early camel ride over the dunes, marveling at the magical sunrise painting the horizon in hues of gold. Following this breathtaking experience, we indulge in a hearty Moroccan breakfast to fuel our day ahead.

Our next destination is Ouarzazate, often referred to as “The Gate Of The Desert.” Here, we explore the historic Taourirt Kasbah and visit the renowned studios where countless famous movies have been filmed. Continuing our journey, we trace our steps back to Marrakech, passing once again through the majestic Tizi Ntichka pass and the awe-inspiring High Atlas mountains.
