Your tour will wrap up around 3pm, so you’ll have the rest of the day to explore on your own. Pick up some souvenirs in the souks, sit down to a delicious traditional meal at one of Marrakech’s restaurants, or hang out at the stalls in Jemaa el-Fna Square, where you can watch musicians and snake charmers perform while you eat Incredible street food crowd.
Day 3: High Atlas Mountains & Ouzoud
After breakfast, you will depart from Marrakech and travel the High Atlas Mountains to Ouzud. At 330 feet (101 meters), this spectacular multi-level waterfall is the tallest in Morocco, and its banks are home to Atlas monkeys (Barbary apes), who never cease to entertain. Climb to the top of the falls for spectacular views, then descend to the base of the falls, where you can swim (weather permitting), take a boat ride under the falls, or take in the view from one of the many waterfall terraces.
Hang out and enjoy lunch in the beautiful enclave before departing for today’s final destination: Demnate. Before retiring for the evening, be sure to take a walk around the natural bridge Imi n’Ifri.
Day 4: Off-Road Dadès Valley via Bouguemez
Have breakfast, then get ready to go! This morning, you’ll head to an eco-lodge near Bouguemez to take part in a traditional Moroccan handicraft workshop; you’ll learn about carpet weaving or olive pressing.
Embark on an epic off-road adventure deep into the High Atlas mountains to the Dades Valley, where you might join a local nomadic family for a scenic picnic lunch. You’ll also have the chance to stretch your legs with some easy hiking in this beautiful part of the country, and arrive at your accommodation in time for dinner in the evening.
Day 5: Transfer to Zagora via Draa Valley
Say goodbye to Boumalne Dades and follow the less traveled road over the Saghro Mountains to the Draa Valley. Stop to visit the Kasbah Tamnougalt, an ancient castle dating back to at least the 17th century, and visit the grounds before continuing on to Zagora, where you’ll encounter your next form of transportation: the camel.
Board your ride and trek to your desert camp for the night. You’ll enjoy dinner under the stars before settling in for a night under the stars in a comfortable tent.
Day 6: Pass the Anti-Atlas Mountains to Taroudant
Wake up this morning to watch the desert sunrise from your camp. Soak up the tranquility before enjoying breakfast before departing. Today, you will travel through the country of saffron in the Anti-Atlas. If you’re visiting in October, stop by a local cooperative to learn about the painstaking harvesting of this expensive spice during harvest time.
You will continue on to the bustling market town of Taroudant, arriving in the early afternoon. Check into your riad, then meet your local guide and explore this friendly city known as “Marrakech’s sister” – a great place to shop without the stress of Marrakech’s “big city”!

After breakfast, you will depart for the charming seaside city of Essaouira. Archaeological evidence shows that the area has been inhabited since prehistoric times, but the present city was designed by French engineer Thédore Cornut in the 18th century.
On the way to Essaouira, you’ll see groves of argan trees, where Morocco’s “liquid gold” (argan oil) is produced with the unique help of local goats. You’ll arrive around lunchtime, just in time to head to the coast for a delicious meal of freshly caught local seafood. Afterwards, you’ll spend the afternoon exploring this beautiful city and its nearby beaches.
